Performance Analysis of Sparse 3D SAR Imaging

چکیده
This paper addresses the question of scattering center detection and estimation performance in synthetic aperture radar. Specifically, we consider sparse 3D radar apertures, in which the radar collects both azimuth and elevation diverse data of a scene, but collects only a sparse subset of the traditional filled aperture. We use a sparse reconstruction algorithm to both detect and estimate scattering center locations and amplitudes in the scene. We quantify both the detection and estimation performance for scattering centers over a high dynamic range of magnitudes. Over this wide range of scattering center signal-to-noise values, detection performance is compared to GLRT detection performance, and estimation performance is compared to the Cramèr-Rao lower bound.

متن کاملSparse Multipass 3D SAR Imaging: Applications to the GOTCHA Data Set
Typically in SAR imaging, there is insufficient data to form well-resolved three-dimensional (3D) images using traditional Fourier image reconstruction; furthermore, scattering centers do not persist over wide-angles. In this work, we examine 3D non-coherent wide-angle imaging on the GOTCHA Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) data set; this data set consists of multipass complete circular aper...
متن کاملTarget Detection from Microwave Imaging Based on Random Sparse Array and Com- Pressed Sensing
This paper proposes an imaging scheme using a random sparse array (RSA) structure for radar target detection using compressed sensing (CS). The array collects sparse measurements with less collection time and data storage. Two schemes of the RSA are considered, random SAR mode and random array mode. Performances of both static and moving target detections are investigated. Performance of RSA wi...
متن کاملFast Reconstruction of SAR Images with Phase Error Using Sparse Representation
In the past years, a number of algorithms have been introduced for synthesis aperture radar (SAR) imaging. However, they all suffer from the same problem: The data size to process is considerably large. In recent years, compressive sensing and sparse representation of the signal in SAR has gained a significant research interest. This method offers the advantage of reducing the sampling rate, bu...
متن کاملAccelerated L1/2 regularization based SAR imaging via BCR and reduced Newton skills
Sparse synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging has been highlighted in recent studies. As an important sparsity constraint, L1=2 regularizer has been substantiated effectively when applied to SAR imaging. However, L1=2-SAR imaging suffers from a common challenge with other sparse SAR imaging methods: the computational complexity is costly, especially for high dimensional applications. This chall...
